Summer is Coming to an End

I think it is so funny that in my last post I was wishing for warmer days.  I do this every season....wishing for the next.  The temps have been near 100 everyday for weeks now and we aren't getting any rain.  I also think it is funny how we were getting ready to head to the beach in my last post and here we are again getting ready to head to the beach.  We really have been lucky this year getting to go to the beach so often.

I can't believe that it is almost time for school to start.  The school year is getting longer and longer every year and time is flying by.  I'm so not ready to get back into the routine of early bedtimes and long commutes to school.  I am a little anxious for Gloria.  She will be in school 4 days this year.  Two of those days without her best bud, Presley.  I know it will be good for her but I'm sure tears will be shed which makes for a hard work day for me.  Bella on the other hand is a social butterfly and since she will be going back to the same school this year I know she will do great.

We have a busy few days getting everything ready for Bella to go back to school and our last summer fling to the beach.  I will try to post more this year.  I think there is a way to print your blog into a book which would be a really nice keepsake.

1st Playdate

I knew it was going to happen soon.  Bella got the phone call to go to a movie with a friend and to play at her house for awhile afterwards.  I spoke with her mom and Tony and I decided it would be fun for her to go.  I took her to meet her friend at the movies and left.  I have to admit I was a little nervous but I knew it was good for her to go and she was really excited.  I made sure to remind her to act polite and play nice.  I also told her a few other "rules" like: don't go over to anyone else's house; if you go outside, stay away from the pool even if there is a cover on it; and you know never to step on ice because you could fall through.  We picked her up before dinner and they had had a great time.  I'm so glad we let her go.

The snow if finally gone and warmer days are ahead.  I'm so ready for spring and for the beach in a couple of months.  Sandles and flip flops here I come.  It is crazy how three nights ago we were getting 4 inches of snow and Tony was worried how he would get home from a meeting and today the high is 70.

I just finished The Naked Mom by Brooke Burke.  It was a great book for busy moms and gave me a great new outlook on being a mom, wife, and taking care of yourself.

A Walk in the Woods

We had a great fun weekend.  Bella got to see some of her friends from her old school at a Birthday party Friday night. I'm glad she got to play with them and even more glad that she wasn't begging to go back to her old school on the way home.  The Tiger game was lots of fun on Saturday.  Tony left very happy with a victory for Memphis, thank you!

I have been wanting to go for a walk through the woods with the girls since all of the poison ivy is gone and we don't have to worry about snakes.  With the temp near 50 it was a perfect day for a walk.  Here are a couple of photos from the walk:

Back to Reality

We have been on vacation mode for 2 whole weeks and it all ends tomorrow.  Bella is back in school and Tony is back to work.  I have to get the laundry caught up and I don't think I've cooked a meal in 2 weeks (except for Christmas Day).  Gloria and I start back to school on Tuesday and I'm trying to decide if I should put the girls in gymnastics class on Wednesday.

I'm going to post some pictures from Christmas.  This year I must say has been the best Christmas yet.  Christmas Eve mass was perfect,  St. Mary's was beautiful.  My Christmas Day meal turned out great, the meat a little more rare than I like but other than that absolutely perfect.  The girls had a blast opening presents and they were so sweet and thankful for everything.

I'm looking forward to a great 2011!

It's that time of the year again!

Merry Christmas Eve!  I am up at 5am with a cough but so glad it is me coughing and not the girls or even worse, my husband.  I have been thinking about starting a blog and I finally went for it this morning.  It feels like life is crazy and hectic sometimes so I am hoping this blog will help me stop and remember that life is wonderful.

It seems like in holidays past I worry about where I am not instead of enjoying where I am.  You know how it is.... once you are married your time has to be split up between families.  I vowed at Thanksgiving this year to enjoy where I am and that is exactly what I am going to do.

Tonight a beautiful mass with Tony and the girls and then breakfast with Tony's family.  Yes, breakfast.  Tony's family has always had breakfast for dinner on Christmas Eve. Tradition and I love having traditions!  Christmas morning should be a blast.  The girls are at the perfect age (I say that every year) to really have fun.  Homemade cinnamon rolls, sausage casserole, Bloody Mary's and of course toys, toys, and toys. I am hosting Christmas lunch this year for my family.  I just pray my beef tenderloin turns out great.  Well, for one the tenderloin was $80. Tony keeps asking... are you sure you know how to cook this?  We shall see and I will definitely take pictures.
